George Giannakoulas, MD, PhD runs the Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Clinics at the AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. He is an Associate Professor in Cardiology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. He runs numerous international clinical trials on heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Dr Giannakoulas has spent most of his professional career in Thessaloniki, with a 2-year fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He is currently the President-Elect of the Working Group on Pulmonary Circulation and Right Ventricular Function of the European Society of Cardiology and he serves as the National Coordinator for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (CHALLENGE) registry. He has published 268 scientific publications indexed in Pubmed (9411 citations, h-factor=34, March 2022), has been a reviewer for high impact journals and serves as an Associate Editor in Hellenic Journal of Cardiology, European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology Congenital Heart Disease and Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine. In 2016, students of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki rated him as the second best Teacher of the Year.
